Simone Friedel studierte Visuelle Kommunikation an der HfbK Hamburg und erwarb das Diplom Film/Fernsehen – Kamera an der FH Dortmund. Als Director of Photography gestaltet sie seit mehr als 20 Jahren dokumentarische und künstlerische Filmprojekte, die sowohl auf internationalen Festivals als auch im öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehen oder in Ausstellungen zu sehen sind. 2026 erhielt sie den Deutschen Kamerapreis. Neben der Bildgestaltung entwickelt sie Kamera- und Lichtkonzepte und arbeitet als Lichtdesignerin für Live- Produktionen im Bereich Klassik und Kultur. Sie lebt mit ihrer Familie in Leipzig.

Simone Friedel studied Visual Communication at the HfbK Hamburg and graduated with a diploma in Film/Television—Cinematography at the FH Dortmund. As a Director of Photography, she has been shaping documentary and artistic film projects for over 20 years; her work has been featured at international festivals, on public television and in exhibitions. In 2026, she received the German Camera Award. In addition to cinematography, she develops camera and lighting concepts and works as a lighting designer for live productions in the fields of classical music and culture. She lives with her family in Leipzig.
